Hello and welcome back to Max’s Kitchen! This time, we’ll be making a food in preparation for The Grand Finale! (Which I will not be releasing any spoilers yet…) We will be making Apple Pie, one of my most favorite foods on this incredible planet! Apple Pie requires one of the most wonderful foods, apples! Apple pies originally originated from England. Whoever knew?!

To make this food, you need some basic ingredients, before we can do that, we must make sure our ingredients aren’t expired or aren’t taken over by the mold colony. If they are, you need to throw them out and get some new ingredients. Let’s get started!

First, you will need…

  • ½ cup sugar.
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar.
  • 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger.
  • 6-7 cups of cut up apples.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
  • Pastry for double crust pie. (9 Inches)
  • 1 tablespoon butter.
  • 1 large white egg.
  • Additional sugar

Once you have all your ingredients, you will need to use them the way they are meant to be used, in a bowl with other ingredients! When you combine these items, you must be sure the ingredients are not expired. You may complain that I’ve already said that, but listen to me. MAKE SURE THE INGREDIENTS ARE NOT EXPIRED! I’ve tried to make food with ingredients I didn’t know were expired, and I got sick. Make sure you also have a hungry audience of people and get cooking!

  1. In a small bowl, combine the sugars, flours, and spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture; toss to coat.
  2. Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom crust; trim pastry even with edge. Fill with apple mixture; dot with butter. Roll out remaining pastry to fit the top of the pie. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in pastry.
  3. Beat egg white until foamy; brush over pastry. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover edges loosely with foil.
  4. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20-25 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 8 servings

And you’re done! As I will do and have done in every single Max’s Kitchen up to this point, I will state my opinion to the facts of time and food space-time in the Max’s Kitchen blog posts.

This Apple Pie tasted amazing! Except for the part where I didn’t make the original crust because we didn’t buy the correct ingredients for an apple pie so we used a premade pie crust without a top. Therefore, my pie was more sugary because we didn’t have a top, so the sugar didn’t bake all the way through. Overall, this was a great food! I loved it!
