Rap, Hip hop, Pop, Jazz, Bluegrass, Folk, and Soul. There are so many genres of music. Most people only listen to the top ten songs and musicians like Twenty One Pilots, Drake, and Beyoncé. Although these are extremely famous people, there are still thousands of bands and artists that not many people have heard of. Although this centuries music  is fantastic and full of culture, it is all mainly just the same repetitive guitar riff with lyrics about how your in love or broken hearted. What if I told you that this isn’t all there is to music. What if I told you that there are more heart wrenching, story telling, rhythmic music. Throughout this entire blog I will be trying to enlighten my readers and show them all the music of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and beyond. I’ll also be trying to shed light on some of the more modern bands that are trying to branch out and be more unique.

To start out I thought I would go with a more recent band, The Avett Brothers. Formed in 2000, The Avett Brothers have been able to publish 16 different albums that are filled with songs of sadness, joy, and more. The band has four people; Seth Avett who does lead vocals, plays the guitar, and banjo, Bob Crawford who plays double bass, electric bass,

violin, and sings back vocals, Scott Avett who plays banjo, guitar, piano, kick-drum, and also sings lead vocals, and Joe Kwan who plays cello and sings back vocals. These four diverse men had come together to make a mix of Americana, Bluegrass, Folk rock, folk music, and indie folk music that took me by storm.

The Avett Brothers most recent album is True Sadness. Seth Avett and Jennifer Carpenter unfortunately filed for divorce. With in this period of time Seth Avett Wrote loads of songs and published the album True Sadness. The band lost some of their listener after the album came out. The Avett brothers tried to take a new turn with their music and some people didn’t enjoy that as much as others. I personally like the new turn that the band tried taking. I will always be a fan but I can’t speak for others.

All and all, this isn’t for everyone. If you enjoy the genres of must I listed earlier, then you might want to try listening to the Avett Brothers. They are an awe inspiring band to listen to. From all their runs with the vocals, all the way to the drum solos this is a band you want to listen to.
