Since last year, my mom has been working on hanging up all of the pictures she has. To do this, she bought many frames, and she gives me the leftover scraps. A few days ago she gave me a paper frame. I had a lot of card scraps and patterned papers, so I decided to use both things to create something new. To make this half original idea, you will need:

  • One paper frame. It can be as big or as small as you want.
  • Scraps of paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Yarn; The measurement depends on how big the frame is. You will need enough to zigzag the frame’s hole

First you have to arrange all of the scraps and then glue them on the frame. I had to cut some of the scraps so that they would fit nicely.

First, take the frame and the scraps. Arrange the scraps any way you want. It’s okay if any of the scraps are hanging off of the edge. You can cut it off later, or leave it. Glue the scraps to the frame. Now, you can cut the scraps hanging off of the edges. Next, take your yarn and make a zigzag in between the picture part of the frame. Tape the ends (and corners). The frame is done! I bought clothespins to hang up my pictures.

Frames were once a part of the picture. A long time ago, people painted pictures on wood, since they didn’t have paper or ANY electronics (terrifying, right?!). Frames were just carved with the picture. Thankfully, now we have a paper to paint on, although the frames were probably fancier and more beautiful then.

One thing that I would change about the frame that I made is the size. I felt that the size was too small, and wouldn’t be able to hold a lot of pictures. I had to search my room for the smallest pictures I could find. When I finished gluing the scraps onto the frame, I didn’t like it at all. I felt that it didn’t work, but after I clipped the pictures on, it looked better.
