Juice boxes are a staple of many kids’ childhood and it is the same with me. I usually prefer Capri Sun but this month I was wondering if there were any cheaper options. I drink them pretty regularly, and I know they tend to get expensive sometimes after buying boxes and boxes of them. So I found an alternative from the store Lidl, they are called Fruit Punch on-the-go and they were almost a dollar cheaper. So this month I compared Capri Sun and Fruit Punch on-the-go to see if you can save money for the same product.

First I tried them. I thought the store brand juice boxes were a lot sweeter and less refreshing. Whereas the Capri Suns were a lot more refreshing and almost felt easier to drink. The Capri Suns left me much more satisfied and I felt very refreshed once I finished it. The Capri Sun was less sweet and tasted more like a sports drink. That is the taste I usually prefer.

Next, I had my brother blindly taste both of the juice boxes. Surprisingly he guessed wrong, he thought the Capri Sun was the off-brand juice box. He also said he preferred the taste of the one he thought was the Capri Sun. That actually makes sense to me, because he is eight years old so obviously he prefers the taste of the sweeter one. He preferred it so much that he didn’t even finish the other one and drank two more of the store brand one.

This is my brother Luke Lanham about to take the blind juice test. This test was very successful in giving unbiased results.

I think it really comes down to personal preference. If you like the refreshing taste and are willing to spend the extra dollar then you should get the Capri Sun. If you want to save some money or if you prefer the sweeter taste then I’d buy the store brand juice boxes. In the end, however, there really isn’t that big of a difference between the two so I think that in this case the store brand juice boxes really are a better option.
